• Open to any children who know the rules of chess.

• Just drop in to see what we do.

• Every week there will be either a short talk followed by a competition or a look at some chess problems followed by games of chess.

• The club is run by qualified teachers with full CRB checks.

• The club is organised by an accredited ECF (English Chess Federation)and EPSCA (English Primary Schools Chess Association) coach.

• There is a payment of £1.80 each night to the YMCA.

• There is a single payment of £10 to Bolton Chess Club for the period July to September . Children can also pay £10 and join the chess club for the full year. This entitles them to play for Bolton Juniors in the Bolton Chess league.

The Team:

Julian Clissold ECF Board member. Julian is a County Chess Player and a teacher. He manages and coaches Manchester Junior Chess. He is also an ECF Coach and Arbiter.

Harry Lamb President of Bolton Chess Club and Life President of the Manchester Chess Federation. Harry is one of the stronger players in the North West; he also coaches chess and is a ECF Senior Arbiter.

Rod Middleton Committee member of Manchester Chess Federation and MCF Grader. Strong local player, Rod coaches chess in a local school. Rod is also a ECF Arbiter.

Mike Swift Mike captains one of the Bolton Chess teams and is a regular local player. He coaches juniors at Bolton Chess Club.

Ian Lamb Ian captains Bolton A team in the Bolton League and many of our junior players progress to play for his adult team.

We are also very fortunate to have the services of Joseph McPhillips Joseph is a FIDE MASTER, with a rating of 2400 fide. We are very pleased Joseph has joined the team and we will expect him to work with one or two of our strongest juniors to help them go through their games.
