Children from across Bolton descended on the University last week to do battle at chess.
Patrick McGhee, Asst. Vice Chancellor, welcomed them to the University and recalled his own experiences starting out in chess and playing for Scotland.
Just under one hundred children took part in what was the grand finale to the chess season. There were three trophies up for grabs:
Farnworth Schools Chess League Winners All Saints Primary School
Bolton South Schools Chess League Winners Bolton School
Bolton North Schools Chess league Winners St Maxentius
Julian Clissold, Junior Chess Organiser for Manchester, who controlled the event, thanked the University for their support and noted that this was the biggest Junior event ever to have taken place in Bolton.
The children described the event as really exciting.
