Manchester Junior Chess is inviting interest from parents and children who would like to join our annual overseas tour for 2019 in St Petersburg.

The tour will include opportunities to play both standard play and rapidplay games against children at schools in St Petersburg. There will also be opportunities to see the city and visit its main attractions.

WHEN:

The tour will take place after 21st June 2019 but before 30th June 2019, depending on flights and accommodation. Likely dates Thursday 27th June 2019 to Sunday 30th June 2019.

HOW MUCH:

Hotel for four nights:

Triple room £ 365pp

Twin/Double £385pp

Single £454pp

Flights for April were £110 pp.

WHO:

Any children who are members of clubs/schools in the MCF area. Children who have played for Manchester on any representative basis. There is no age limit but children must be accompanied.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE:

As this event happens during the school week, parents will need to ask permission for children to have special holiday leave. As the event is an educational tour with opportunities for engagement with children from other cultures, playing chess and undertaking scholastic activities, it would be considered unreasonable to deny special leave.

CHESS:

We will play two standard play matches against a school in St Petersburg. We will also have a rapidplay tournament (in which parents are welcome to participate).
